At Giving Back Hope Together (GBHT), we believe that access to healthcare is a vital part of giving every child an opportunity to reach their full potential. In partnership with MEMA, we recently held a Medical Camp in Kibagare — an initiative aimed at providing free medical check-ups, treatment, and health education to children and families in need.
What unfolded during and after this camp reminded us once again of the profound impact that simple acts of care and collaboration can have on lives.
A Guardian’s Story of Gratitude
During a routine home visit on Tuesday, October 7th, one of our social workers met a guardian who was deeply moved by the recent medical outreach. With tears of gratitude, she shared how the camp had transformed her daughter’s health journey.
Through the free medical check-up conducted during the camp, doctors discovered that her daughter had a serious stomach condition — something she might never have known without that screening. Acting on the diagnosis, she was able to receive timely surgery, which was successfully carried out just the previous week.
Today, her daughter is recovering well, and the family is filled with relief and hope. The guardian expressed her heartfelt appreciation to GBHT and MEMA, acknowledging that if it had not been for the medical camp, her daughter’s condition might have gone undetected, possibly leading to severe consequences.
Her story stands as a powerful testimony of how early intervention and community outreach can literally save lives.
Why Medical Outreach Matters
For many families in informal settlements like Kibagare, access to healthcare remains a daily challenge. Many children live with untreated illnesses, while parents struggle to afford medical consultations or diagnostic tests.
The medical camp provided hundreds of families with free consultations, medicines, and health education — but more importantly, it brought hope and awareness. By identifying health concerns early, we not only addressed immediate medical needs but also prevented potential long-term complications.
This is what Giving Back Hope Together stands for: bridging gaps, meeting needs, and restoring hope where it has been lost.
Partnerships that Save Lives
None of this would have been possible without the incredible partnership between GBHT and MEMA. Through collaboration, shared vision, and dedication, the two organizations worked hand in hand to ensure that the medical camp reached as many people as possible.
We extend our deepest gratitude to MEMA, as well as to the doctors, nurses, volunteers, and supporters who offered their time, expertise, and compassion. Each of you played a crucial role in transforming lives and strengthening our community.
A Shared Vision for a Healthier Future
At GBHT, our commitment remains firm — to ensure that every child, regardless of background, has the opportunity to live a healthy, purposeful, and hopeful life. The success of the Kibagare Medical Camp reaffirms the power of unity and compassion in bringing lasting change.
Together, we are giving back hope — one child, one family, and one story at a time.
