GBHT is excited to announce the expansion of the Hope Center campus! Programming growth at the Hope Center has accelerated over the past 18 months, and the need for additional building capacity is now urgent. To make expansion possible, in the past year GBHT has purchased 7 plots of land that surround the original campus. The plots have been cleared of their pre-existing buildings and are now ready for construction.
THE WHY. In 2024, GBHT started a preschool at the Hope Center, with a single class of 15 students. Because of community recognition of its value and a large number of admission applications, 70 students are attending the preschool this year! This has resulted in a classroom capacity challenge. GBHT’s long-term goal is to operate a full elementary school at the Hope Center. The exit ramp from multi-generational poverty is education. The event hall is critical to GBHT’s school-break holiday camps (attended now by more than 600 children) and other programming. The classroom buildings are a must for the growth of GBHT’s school.
More than 50 children accepted Jesus Christ through the ministry of GBHT at the Hope Center in 2024. Campus expansion will enable the continued spiritual transformation of the people whom GBHT serves.
THE PROJECT. The kitchen has already been constructed. With two large-capacity cooking stoves, it is being used daily to prepare meals for the children GBHT serves. The next building to be constructed will be the larger classroom building, followed by the event hall, and finally the second classroom building. The two classroom buildings (both two story buildings) will provide a total of 10 classrooms to house GBHT’s school. Floors will be concrete, walls will be concrete block, and roofs will be metal. There will be ample windows in the buildings for natural light. The size of the buildings and the campus layout is depicted in the site plan above.
THE COST. With contractor estimates already obtained, the known costs for this project are:
